Cubs Emergency Aid

Tonight the Cubs worked on their Emergency Aid stage 2 badge. They learnt what to do if someone is unconscious, is bleeding, has a burn or has an asthma attack. Many thanks to Samantha Jones of First Aid 4 Staff (www.firstaid4staff.co.uk) for a very informative evening.

Our First Aid training was delivered by front-line Paramedic Sam Jones. Sam started her own first aid training company, FirstAid4Staff, when she learnt that only 1% of the population is actually first aid trained. The idea that 99% of people wouldn’t know how best to help their children or family in an emergency seemed crazy. The company runs all kinds of First Aid courses for parents, schools and employers. Every course is taught by a paramedic and Sam is so passionate about sharing skills that the money they make from the courses is ploughed back into outreach programmes for kids who learn First Aid for free.
